@peachyskinnn turns one today! ๐Ÿค

I started my account last April 27, 2019 as a skincare diary for myself. I never had the perfect, glass skin while growing up and college life had definitely made my skin worse. I’ve thought of putting up my own blog after seeing several skincare accounts on my feed.

This account helped me become more accepting of my skin condition. I learned what it means to be an advocate of #acnepositivity, something I wished I learned during my teenage years. It also served as an outlet when I’m really stressed due to life. I really like taking photos (not selfies, but hopefully I’ll be more confident enough to post more) and product shoots turned out to be fun. I also used to write articles on my junior high school’s paper, so putting up a blog is good for me to retain what I’ve learned in English class (lol) but the real reason is that I find myself being more able to express what I want to say through writing.

As this skincare blog turns one, I hope I will be able to inspire everyone who stumbles on my account to do whatever they want! If putting up a blog makes you happy, go for it. If you love posting #OOTDs, then post to your hearts’ content! What matters is that doing these seemingly little things make you feel better about yourselves.

Thank you so much for all the love you have been giving me and my blog! โค

My little passion project! Never thought it’s already been a year.

Not going outside doesn’t mean we should skip sunscreen! I’m here with a review of my current and cheapest sunscreen in the stash: @fresh_philippines Jeju Aloe Ice UV Sunblock ๐ŸŒž I often see their brand in Watsons so they’re not only affordable, but very accessible to the masses!

WHAT IT IS: A cooling SPF 50 PA+++ sunblock with jeju aloe extract

โ€“ Niacinamide: anti-acne
โ€“ Antioxidants: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit oil, Portulaca Oleracea extract, Centella Asiatica extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed oil, Tocopheryl Acetate
โ€“ Skin brightening: Niacinamide, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root extract
โ€“ Skin-identical products (they mimic the things naturally found in our skin): Sodium Hyaluronate, Arginine
โ€“ Soothing: Biosaccharide Gum-1, Portulaca Oleracea extract, Centella Asiatica extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf extract, Allantoin, Panthenol

โ€“ PACKAGING: It has a tube packaging which is hygienic and travel-friendly.
โ€“ APPLICATION: Cool upon application, may leave a little whitecast so please spread well! The product itself is not too sticky and not too watery; it feels just right ๏‘Œ
โ€“ EXPERIENCE: I have not experienced any allergic reaction nor any adverse reactions while using this product. I’m happy that it’s cheap but it’s effective in keeping harmful sun rays at bay. I could not vouch for its effectiveness on soothing and brightening properties because I did not see them on my skin. Another pro for me is its cooling texture, which is great for the hot and humid weather here in the Philippines! ๐Ÿคฉ Plus, as a student, a sunblock this accessible and affordable is a must-have.

PRICE: Php 299 (currently sale @ Php 240) for 100ml

REVIEW: By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream (PR)*

Time for another review! I’ll be reviewing the By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 cream ๐ŸŒบ Anyone fancying pink products? Here is an in-depth review for this product!

WHAT IT IS: A light cream-type exfoliant perfect for daily use; enriched with LHA and PHA; exfoliates ultra-sensitive complexions

  • pH: 4.2-6.2
  • Cruelty-free
  • Ethanol, artificial color and fragrance free
  • Paraben, sulfate, alcohol, EU allergen-free
  • Vegan-friendly
  • NOT silicone-free
  • NOT fungal acne-safe

  • LHA and PHA: less irritating and sensitive skin-friendly exfoliants
  • 63% Hibiscus Flower extract: rich in antioxidants; supports the effectiveness of LHA and PHA
  • Gluconolactone: anti-aging
  • Butylene Glycol, glycerin: good for dry skin

  • PRODUCT: The texture is lightweight and is absorbed easily by the skin. It smells like plastic (most likely due to the packaging)
  • PACKAGING: It is a tub type packaging without a spatula. Itโ€™s made of plastic and provides the directions.
  • USAGE: I use little of this because of how easy it is to spread across the face.
  • OVERALL: This did not give me any adverse effects. While using this, I noticed that my skin became smoother and brighter. The pigmentation on my cheek became lighter. However, since this is an exfoliant, I would get pimples here and there but they are remedied with other products. I love the lightweight consistency and how smooth the application is as it isnโ€™t sticky. I would recommend this product to those who have oily, sensitive skin!

PRICE: Php1,150 (30% off at Kbeautycafe and Shopee)

๐Ÿ’ฌ It does clean the skin well and does not feel stripping.
๐Ÿ’ฌ However, this product will slap you with slightly overwhelming fragrance. It smells like Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea perfume, so if you don’t fancy that scent, you may dislike the smell of this cleanser.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Unfortunately, it doesn’t prevent nor reduce my pimples as much as other cleansers. It feels basic to me. Even after a month of usage, I didn’t see any significant progress.
๐Ÿ’ฌ It would be an okay cleanser but I don’t think it performs well for its price: $19.80 (โ‚ฑ971.72) for 120ml [~โ‚ฑ8.1 per ml]

I have tried and tested many cleansers and I can say that is definitely a basic cleanser that doesn’t live up to its claims. Its fragrance and alcohol being in the middle of the ingredient list means that it has a lot of these. I’m just glad my skin hasn’t desensitized from it (yet). It also seems expensive for a student like me.

One of the most essential parts of any skincare routine is sunscreen. A sunscreen is a topical product that absorbs or reflects some of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It’s also notable that we should use sunscreen everyday, regardless if we are indoors or outdoors. (เน‘โ€ขฬ€ใ…‚โ€ขฬ)ูˆโœง Nowadays, we also have tinted sunscreens who serve as both skincare AND makeup, and are marketed towards people who are always on the go.

I religiously use sunscreen even when I’m not going out. Before the pandemic, I used to think that I could use a tinted sunscreen as a substitute for a regular sunscreen. Once the quarantine started, I came along one Philippine dermatologist’s tweet regarding tinted sunscreens: we should treat tinted sunscreens as cosmetics and not really a part of the skincare regimen.

When we use a normal sunscreen, we can follow the 1 index finger application method without worrying too much about looking at least two shades whiter than the rest of the body. However, with tinted sunscreens, there is a high possibility that you will look white before applying the adequate amount of protection.

Now, I apply a separate sunscreen first before applying my tinted sunscreen. I’ve already tried several tinted sunscreens, and compared two of them. The @belosunexpert Perfecting Shield Tinted Sunscreen and the @fresh_philippines Sunglow by Fresh Crรจme Tinted Sunscreen are both available in Watsons. No wonder that they are currently raved within the PH beauty community, as both are from reputable brands.

๐Ÿ’ฌ I have fair skin so I can’t really see how much the tone adapt technology fares. It leaves a little bit of gray undertone on me but it’s not very noticeable. It also stings my eye area whenever I apply this sunscreen.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Compared to the Fresh Crรจme Tinted Sunscreen, I use less amount of this tinted sunscreen, which is a nay for sun protection. However, I do like the finish of this sunscreen and it provides light coverage.

๐Ÿ’ฌ It is affordable as it is priced for ~9.00 per ml. It also provides high sun protection as it is SPF 50 PA++++

๐— ๐˜† ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต๐˜๐˜€

๐Ÿ’ฌ The shade range might be limited but would fare better in providing more shades for those with darker skin tones. I got the shade “Fair” and it provides a light to medium coverage and semi-dewy finish.

๐Ÿ’ฌ It is slightly cheaper as it is priced for 8.58 per ml. It is SPF 50 PA+++ and infused with centella asiatica, niacinamide, and sunflower oil which provides more skincare benefits as compared to Belo’s tinted sunscreen.

๐Ÿ’ฌ I do not see the benefits of these ingredients on my skin but at least they don’t irritate my skin.

I personally prefer the Sunglow by Fresh Crรจme Tinted Sunscreen over the Belo Tinted Sunscreen but both are affordable and accessible (ใ……ยด ห˜ `)โ™ก Once emptied, I would repurchase Sunglow in a heartbeat!

Dearmay uses safe and naturally-derived ingredients to cater the skincare and beauty needs of Asian women. It provides products that can unleash your beauty at any time of the year.

โ€” Velvety, cream formula
โ€” Matte finish
โ€” Leaves lips feeling soft and lightweight

โ€” Frosted plastic packaging to showcase the colour of the liptint
โ€” Doefoot applicator is reasonable in size and spreads the colour well
โ€” Packaging does not seem to easily break as long as it’s not thrown at great heights

โ€” The colours, when applied, generally resembles the colours found in their packaging
โ€” 1 swipe: Enough to colour the whole bottom lip and create a gradient lip
โ€” 2 swipes: Gives off a strong, matte look

โ€” With a mask: 2 hours once it dries
โ€” Without a mask: 4 hours
โ€” Once it dries, it feels velvety although it looks very matte. It’s versatile since you can also wear it using gradients and combining colours.
โ€” It doesn’t give emphasis on my lip lines, although I don’t have prominent lines to begin with. However, the whole application was smooth and so is its finish.

#1 Red Orange on my cheeks and lips

โ€” It is true to its claims that it feels lightweight and soft on the lips. Since this is a velvet liptint, there is minimal transfer and it gets easily removed when eating, I highly suggest that this liptint is those who do not mind touching up every few hours.
โ€” The colours are not too bright nor too dull. #1 Red Orange is the brightest shade but it doesn’t look neon because of its coral undertone.
โ€” My personal favourite was #2 Nude Peach because it’s basically a dupe of Moonshot’s lipstick (Shade: Old Rose).
โ€” VERSATILITY on point. I was able to use this as a blush and it hugged my skin better than a usual blush. The colours (except Nude Peach) look great for a “drunk blush” concept.
โ€” It highlights my skin colour. I look whiter with using the bold colours (Red Orange and Wild Berry).
โ€” These look good for everyday use, especially for working lady bosses! The colours give off a subtle boss vibe.

299 for 4.4g (previously 359) โ€” Good price to product ratio โœจ Especially since this liptint doesn’t need to consume a lot of swipes to get the pop of colour you need.

โ€” Honestly, I feel that this is better than my usual velvet liptints! Dearmay is more lightweight and less distracting when I move my lips because it doesn’t stay velvety. It is also inexpensive as compared to buying a water-based liptint for the same price. I would definitely recommend this, especially 2 Nude Peach as it’s my new fave!

REVIEW: Lupa Essentials Matcha Mask

How do you prefer your matcha? On your cup or on your face? ๐Ÿ’š Here we are with another #PHeachysreviews ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ featuring a local brand, Lupa Essentials.

If you’ve been following me for a while now, you would know I bought several of their clay masks โ˜บ One of these masks is the Matcha Mask!

๐Œ๐€๐“๐‚๐‡๐€ ๐Œ๐€๐’๐Š
๐Ÿต French green clay: absorbs oils and removes impurities; smoothens skin; delivers nourishing minerals to the skin; increases circulation; tightens pores; calms skin inflammation
๐Ÿต Kaolin clay: helps control oiliness; natural detoxifier and exfoliator; can soothe rashes and irritation; tones your skin
๐Ÿต Almonds: rich in Vitamin E, which nourishes and softens the skin. *Note โ€” applying its oil/milk protects the skin from damage caused by sun exposure as well
๐Ÿต Matcha: contains chlorophyll which protects our skin from sun damage and reduce photo-aging; also contains epigallocatechin-3-gallate or EGCG which gives great antibacterial and antibiotic properties. It also promotes smoother and supple skin
๐Ÿต Allantoin: soothing and non-irritating; supports cell regeneration; softens skin

Things to consider before buying:
โ€” Almond oil can triggerย allergic reactionsย in people with nut allergies, depending on how a particular oil product was processed. Because almonds are a tree nut, people with allergies to tree nuts are particularly at risk for allergic reactions, and therefore should not use almond oil.

My experience:
My pores have been smaller since using this. It did not completely blur my pores but it significantly reduced its visibility on cam. My face feels tightened with each use. What I love about this mask is that it’s not drying, although this may not suit every skin type. My friend who has combination skin had a reaction and felt her skin got too dry while using this. I, however, felt refreshed as I have oily, acne prone skin. The mask helps reduce redness.

Overall, I see myself purchasing this one!

REVIEW: Johnson’sยฎ Milk + Rice Bath and Johnson’sยฎ Active Kidsโ„ข Shiny Drops Shampoo

Duirng the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), my skin was, unfortunately, desensitized. Why? I don’t know the exact cause but the combination of lack of sleep, stress, environment, and amount of products I try seem to be the triggering factor for my body acne.

I had developed acne on my whole chest and back, which then spread to my armpit and inner thigh area. My mother couldn’t stand it so she bought me these products. Read below to hear my thoughts on these two ECQ lifesavers.

Johnson’sยฎ Milk + Rice Bath
โ€“ pH Balanced & Hypoallergenic, tested with pediatricians
โ€“ Helps skin feel soft and smooth
โ€“ With Milk proteins, rice extracts, plus multiple vitamins and minerals
โ€“ Two times more moisturizing versus regular bar soap

โ€“ 100ml; Brand new items have a seal blocking the “cap”. There are also other several sizes

Scent & Texture:
โ€“ It smells like milk! The bath lathers well if used generously

My Experience:
This has helped my skin texture by a lot! It reduced its redness and acne. The scent and texture makes me feel refreshed after a good bath. Thanks to this product, I only have to worry about my acne scars now. It’s really gentle and I did not experience any adverse reaction.

Johnson’sยฎ Active Kidsโ„ข Shiny Drops Shampoo
โ€“ pH Balanced, tested with pediatricians
โ€“ Advanced formula for growing kidsโ€™ hair needs
โ€“ With Argan oil & silk proteins for shiny & soft hair

My Experience:
So far so good! My hair feels refreshed after washing. This did not give me any adverse reaction and the argan oil helps my hair look shinier. It lathers a little less than usual shampoos but it still feels good on the scalp.

I love how Johnson’s products are safe for both babies and adults! I plan to keep on using these products even if my skin gets better and well enough to try other products.

REVIEW: Coxir Black Snail Collagen Emulsion*

Apologies for the overdue! ๐Ÿฅบ A few months ago, I was lucky enough to win this emulsion from @skincarefair‘s giveaway. By the way, I love her minimal feed and maximum quality reviews โ˜บ So I hope you check out her content. Anyways, let us dive into the review!

โ€“ Firms and smoothens the skin
โ€“ Ideal for aging and drying skin
โ€“ Provides moisture and leaves the skin feeling firm

โ€“ Black soybean and rice: brightens the skin
โ€“ Snail mucin: helps reduce the appearance wrinkles, scars, uneven skin tone
โ€“ Collagen and adenosine: plump up the skin making it more younger-looking
Water, Betula Alba Juice, Butylene glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, Glycoproteins, Betaine, Yeast Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sea Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Isohexadecane, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate , Viola Mandshurica Flower Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Black Soybean Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Panax Ginseng Berry Extract, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Adenosine, Copper Tripeptide-1, Polysorbate 60, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sorbitan Stearate, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium AcryloyldimethylTaurate Copolymer, Polysorbate 80, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Parfum

โ€“ Plastic, pump bottle
โ€“ 100ml; lists key ingredients and basic claims

โ€“ $19.00 or ~โ‚ฑ959.00

โ€“ The texture is lightweight and smells like baby powder
โ€“ One pump is sufficient for the whole face

I will list experiences of two different skin types since my mother also uses this on a daily basis.

My Experience (Skin Type: Oily, acne prone)
I feel my skin being lifted with each use. Its tightening effect does not feel temporary, and it is also very hydrating. The emulsion did not give my skin any adverse reactions. The area where I notice the most lifting effect is near my undereye area. For anti-aging claims, I could not evaluate this as my skin is still young BUT I do feel that using this has nourished my skin and is a great preventive measure against aging.

Mother’s Experience (Skin Type: Mature, Normal)
My mother is in her mid50s. She stated she does not notice any changes regarding lifting nor anti-aging claims. Although, upon my observation, there is minimal lifting near the undereye area. She did not develop any adverse reaction while using this product.

Like most anti-aging products, it is hard to evaluate its true effect until you finished bottles of a product. However, the emulsion was definitely nourishing and works for oily skin, despite that this is best suited for dry skin.

Disclaimer: Our experiences vary. What works for us may not work for you.
